He views regenerative aquaculture not as a series of isolated ventures, but as a complex value chain where small gains in efficiency, genetics, and production compound to create massive sectoral shifts.

A lawyer turned founder turned investor, Don brings a operator’s mindset to capital allocation. He likes companies solving hard real world problems, applying a disciplined lens to ensure that every operational refinement contributes to a durable, scalable business model. He believes that breakthrough technologies only reach their full potential when they are embedded into commercially proven systems that reinforce both financial performance and environmental resilience.

Jeff McKinnon

VP OF FINANCE

Based in Halifax, Jeff McKinnon brings over 18 years of senior financial leadership experience across financial services, real estate, sustainable food, retail, and food & beverage. He is a Vice President at Cuna Del Mar.

Jeff has served in multiple C-suite and board roles with growth-oriented companies worldwide, leading more than $1 billion in equity, debt, and grant financings and contributing to several successful exits. His area of expertise has been focused on building foundational business processes to support scale and profitability. As founding CFO of TruLeaf, he guided the company from pre-revenue to a strategic acquisition, delivering strong investor returns.

He is passionate about helping early- and growth-stage companies access capital and scale sustainably. Outside of work, Jeff teaches university courses, serves on several boards, and enjoys home renovation projects and time with his wife and three daughters.
